What’s going on at school?

Students build mobiles to explore the laws of physics, work on math problems, play chess, drop eggs from the fourth floor to test their engineering savvy, host architecture students and design a classroom, conference one-on-one with their teachers, make Egyptian urns, read, write, and present their thinking to their classmates.

On January 5th, we launched our first SPARC cycle of the year. (We hold two cycles a year). SPARC, (Special Passions and Real Connections) is the school-wide enrichment that happens in 10-week-cycles on Thursday afternoons. It is based on a model for gifted education developed by Dr. Joseph Renzulli at the University of Connecticut and Dr.Sally Reis. SPARC is student-driven and constructed around students’ interests, learning styles, and preferred modes of expression.
